If you’re lucky enough to get a lunch break at work, are you using it effectively? Many people are guilty of eating at their desk or not taking the breaks they’re entitled to at all.
Here’s some ways you can make your lunchbreak more productive, healthy and, most importantly, more fun!
Step away from the desk!
Try to get away from your desk, even if it’s just for a quick 15 minute walk down the street to get lunch. Meet up with a friend for a lunchtime catch up or, if you have a longer lunch break, then why not head to the gym? Those endorphins will set you up well for the rest of the day. Time away from your desk will allow you to recharge and come back to your work with renewed focus and energy. Of course, sometimes you might not be able to do this if you have an urgent deadline or important event coming up. However, if you find you’re regularly having to work through your lunch break then speak to your manager about your workload.
Treat yo’self
Take 10 minutes to do something nice for yourself. Indulge in a bit of retail therapy, get a manicure or buy yourself your favourite snack. A little treat is a great way to feel better after a stressful morning…or to reward yourself for closing a deal, completing a project or getting that promotion!
Escape to another world
While you’re eating your lunch, why not listen to that Podcast your friend recommended or read that new book everyone’s talking about?
Plan your next move
Use your lunchbreak to write a little bit of that novel you’ve been working on, organise your diary or map out your career progression for the coming year.
