You’d be surprised how many applicants arrive with only a little knowledge of the firm and their future role in it.

So read every word of the vacancy description then find out everything you can about the company online.

Remember when you’re dealing with customers this is the stuff you’ll have to know off by heart in order to give your job 100%.

 

How can you help our customer service team improve?

This question is designed to find out how much you know about your role in the team but also let you to demonstrate your level of passion.

Direct your answer to those talents outlined in the vacancy then add a corker of an idea. For example, if you’ve studied the company’s web presence, you might suggest creating an online forum with FAQs.

Above all be super enthusiastic in your reply – though not Tom Cruise bouncing on Oprah’s sofa enthusiastic. No-one loves work that much!

 

What is your strategy for dealing with angry customers?

Can you handle sticky situations without panicking or getting annoyed? Cool. Then describe how you’d bring customers back onboard with you by remaining calm, patient and attentive.

Remember your interviewer is assessing not only your thinking abilities but your empathy for customers.

 

Finally, what makes you the ideal candidate for this job?

You can answer this with just one word: creativity. There are plenty of software programmes out there if your new boss simply wanted a robot. Show them how your creative skills in problem solving will make you an inspirational member of the team.
